Much like the legendary Hodag of the Northwoods, the Old Pine Road Band has emerged from the heart of Northern Wisconsin to captivate audiences across the Midwest. For over a decade, David Walters and the Old Pine Road Boys, Max Weirauch(Mandolin) and Paul LaFourest(Upright Bass), have been crafting a distinctive blend of soulful funk-grass, rich with twang, improvisation, and heartfelt storytelling. Their sound is steeped in Americana traditions, yet fearless in its exploration, creating performances that are both timeless and fresh.

 

Their work has earned them recognition as finalists for New Artist of the Year and Rising Star of the Year at the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Awards, along with nominations for Best Folk Act, Best Podcast, and individual honors for David Walters as Male Vocalist and Acoustic Guitarist of the Year. David was the 2022 recipient of the Individual Artist Grant by the Northern Arts Council and is also proudly endorsed as a Breedlove Guitars artist, bringing the unmistakable tone and craftsmanship of Breedlove instruments to every performance.

The band has also been a two-time finalist in the Blue Ox Virtual Battle of the Bands competition and a finalist in the WHDG Hodag Pickoff competition.

Old Pine Road Band has performed at numerous Music Festivals and large events in Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota including the Jackpine Jamboree, Hiawatha Music Festival, Northwoodstock, Lutsen Mountain Meltdown, Stoneline Valley, Flatrock Jamboree, Summers End Smokeout, Mountain Top Music Festival, Stormy Kromer’s Plaidurday, Beef-A-Rama, Beer and Bacon Fest, North By Northwoods (NXNW), Grass on the Black, Flambeau-Rama, Loon Days,  and the Tip-Up Pike Jam.

OPRB has also given performances at many popular concert series such as Music in the Park Mani Waters, Boulder Junction Music on Main Street, Torpy Park Concert Series,  Price County Music in the Park, Eagle River Street Dance, Artstart Roots Concert Series, Tunes on the Water, Hodag Park Concert Series,, Wednesday Night Live Park Falls, LOLA Car Park Concert, Land O Lakes Fireworks, Phelps Music On The Lake, WXPR At Home Concert Series, David and Max also host a monthly Open Mic every second Wednesday at the Pea Patch in Manitowish Waters.
